I've always found robots fascinating...who doesn't! The above hand is from a gallery published by Wired magazine last year...you can check out the rest here. However, this week the Ishikawa Komuro Lab have managed to create super-human like levels of dexterity and skill at high speeds. Check out a video of their research below.Sunday, 30 August 2009
The High Speed Robot Hand

Graeme Mitchell

Sadly, Graeme Mitchell appears to be taking some time off his photo blog. Check out his previous entries here; they are mainly set in New York. I've posted some of my favourite images below.
Spotify hits the iPhone
Apple has approved an application to bring Spotify, the worlds most popular music streaming service, to the iPhone. Tech commentators widely agreed that Apple would probably reject the application because of the possible effect it might have on iTunes usage. Perhaps Apple has agreed to approving the app in return for a more substantial compensation charge from Spotify; the iPhone app will only be available to premium subscribers who pay a monthly fee of £10. Check out the app in action below...narrated by Jonathan, of course!Thursday, 27 August 2009
www.morenewmath.com

morenewmath.com is an interesting blog which has hundreds more 21st century proverbs like the one above, all put into the form of a mathematical equation.
AJ Fosik

AJ Fosik is an artist from New York who makes these huge, striking structures out of wood and paper. Check out the images below or head to his myspace.
Half Dome Screens

These screens, known as TOOBs (Think Outside Of Box) are one of the few Tomorrows World-esque contraptions that are actually for sale, rather than being resigned to a dusty old concept. The screens make use of an 18 inch mirror to project onto a 3 by 6 feet dome screen. Check out the video below to see it in action...

A Serious Man
The new Coen Brothers film looks pretty darn good.
Snow Leopard - 28th August
As a mac user, I'm looking forward to snagging the update to Leopard which is released this Friday. Although it appears to be a minor update as opposed to a complete overhaul, it's definitely worth £25 for the benefits you get; nearly all of the apps have been reduced in size and RAM usage is down, meaning a quicker OS all round. It also 'wakes up' and shuts down twice as fast and uses up a lot less of your precious hard drive when installed.Saturday, 22 August 2009
Toddla T
I highly recommend getting Toddla T's new fabric mix...it is BANGING. Check out his mini mix below...Thursday, 20 August 2009
Tron: Legacy
Tron was one of my favourite films as a child so I was pretty excited when I saw this trailer for a remake due to come out next year...the special effects look AMAZING.
PS3 Slim
Sony yesterday announced the release of the PS3 Slim, which will pack a 120GB hard drive and will gradually replace the old model. I personally think the new matte finish looks horrendous and I liked the touch sensitive buttons on the old one. They have also removed the media card slots. It goes on sale in September for the reduced price of £249.
