Dirty Projectors

Went to Clwb Ifor Bach yesterday to see Polar Bear, but was actually more impressed by the support act, Dirty Projectors. The female vocalists were slamming. Turns out they are signed to Domino and will be releasing a new album, entitled Bitte Orca, on the 8th June. In the meantime, you can buy Rise Above, here (it's a pound cheaper than iTunes, though you may need to install Amazon mp3 downloader, which is always fun). They also have a few UK tour dates left, which you should go to if you're about.

31st March - Komedia, Brighton
1st April - Mint Lounge, Manchester
2nd April - Scala, London
3rd April - Arnolfini, Bristol

I went to look for a video of then on YouTube, but instead came across a guy called Vincent Moon who directs videos with 'La Blogotheque'. Here is what they say about themselves on their site;

"The Take away shows are la Blogotheque’s first video podcasts. Every week, we invite an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, and we film the whole session. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectingly. Besides, we do not edit the videos so they look perfectly flawless, instead we keep the raw sound of the surroundings. Our goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword."

So, here is Dirty Projectors doing just that in New York.
