Mafia II

Mafia was one of my favourite games on the PC, so I was amazed by the trailer for the new game; you can see it below. It'll blow The Godfather out of the water. Also worth checking if you're bored today is Che Lives!, a programme on Radio 2 last night which explores the impact of one of the most iconic images of our time. You can listen to it again here. If you enjoyed listening to it, you should definitely watch The Motorcycle Diaries if you haven't already...trailer here. In other news, check out the real life Forrest Gump here. Also worth a look is the Top 10 coffee tables; it's more interesting than it sounds!

PS. ChrissyKeegs has dug up another classic site...read the story here.

Genres

I love this picture. I've always wondered if, when we're older, our generation will still be listening to Dizzee Rascal, Fatboy Slim and Massive Attack. In fact, I find it impossible to imagine what a new genre of music would sound like now; we're spoiled for choice. If I had a time machine, one of the first things I'd do would be to go back to the 1950's and play them some DJ Shadow. I'd love to hear what genres the future has to hold.

In news today, the BBC have found what is believed to be the oldest computer recording know to man; you can listen to it here. On the subject of gaming, this article argues that the plethora of next-gen consoles do not mean the death of PC gaming is round the corner. I also forgot to mention a few weeks ago that Threadless have begun selling prints as well as tees; here is one of my favs. I wish they'd make a print/reprint this shirt. They've also begun promoting Faesthetic; check it out here. If you're a fan of Firefox, Firefox 3 was released this week...you can download it here. You'll also be pleased to know that the set a new world record for application downloads...story here. Finally here's a rather uplifting story. It's too weird to be true. Also check out the video below of electricity being used to artistic effect.

I can't see/breathe...

Hayfever is getting worse and worse! Thanks to Jim for showing me Hype Machine, a site which has a fair few tasty remixes on it. Also worth taking a look a this controversial article about GTA IV; worst game ever? Unlikely. Thought this hack was pretty cool. Tim showed me the hilarious video below.

Packing Up

Had to pack up all my uni stuff today...sad times. I'd be loving it if my room at home looks like this when I go back. Here's a cheeky update of all the goings on surrounding the new 3G iPhone. It's not much different to the old one to be honest, I can't say I'm keen on the white version at all. I've been playing a lot of GTA IV lately, check out this lowdown on most of the cars featured in the game. Everytime I play it, I'm amazed at how detailed it is. You HAVE to experience it. Thanks to Leo for showing me Surplus, you can watch the whole film here. I am also loving Dungen at the moment, thanks to Jack. Download one of my favourite songs, Ta Det Lungt here. Head here to check out an art project from Russia involving the contents of your pockets. If you're really bored, check out this article about the intensifying competition between Safari and Firefox. Finally, check this amazing remix of Nude by Radiohead...I can't wait to see them at the end of June! It was made using old computer parts, for the full story head here.

Hayfever

Have been suffering badly from hayfever lately. I would be more aggravated with it if I hadn't just purchased an Xbox 360 to entertain myself with. It's worth checking out this Flickr album of classic photographs recreated in Lego. If you have a Wii, it's worth downloading the WiiPlayer, which helps make using BBC's iPlayer more manageable as opposed to simply using the Opera browser on the Wii. Head here to download it. It also emerged this week that Obama will be taking on McCain in the coming US election. Head here to look at how the candidates are viewed around the world and their policies regarding Iraq, the economy and the environment. I'll be back after Apple have updated their product lineup...

Gaming & Facts

Thoroughly enjoying playing GTA IV on my new 360, hence lack of posting. The picture is a pretty cool Ikea ad; head here to check out 19 of the best adverts, some of them are amazing. Also check out the Etch-A-Sketchist, a collection of pretty fly sketches, including attempts at No Country For Old Men, Star Wars and GTA. I also enjoyed looking at history of tech company logos...head here. Also worth checking out my mate's blog, PeacenQueues. He recently posted where you can find Justice's rejected Fabric mix; head here. Whilst heading back to Cardiff on the train this week, I read this fascinating article on whether a grand equation explaining the complexities of the human brain can be found. You can read it here for free. In gadget news, check out Ben Heck's latest creation...a controller for one handed gamers. Whether or not it's actually designed for those with maimed digits or just to accomodate lazy gamers who like to use one of their hands for eating pizza/drinking beer/etc is debatable. Also worth a laugh is Gizmodo's latest contest, some of those ads are classic.

PS. I was told this evening about the thermodynamics surrounding making cocktails. Apparently the more ice you have in a glass, the less quickly it will melt.

Finished

Went to see AstroSnooze last night in Glo bar to celebrate the end of exams, check out the mashup they did below.

AstroSnooze - Lily Allen/Just Jack

Not quite a graduate yet but getting there! I recommend watching that film if you haven't seen it; saw it on Film Four the other day and remembered how good it is. Also worth taking a look at this project from Realities: United which involves using overhead lighting to tell the time...head here. The video below is a project by an animator called Blu...it's pretty impressive. You can also check out his blog here. Now I've finished exams, I'm going to play Unreal Tournament. If you're after some classic PC games, head here to download them.
