Nature Lists

I love a good nature programme; I recommend you buy Predators, a BBC/Discovery Channel project. It's fairly hard to get hold of though, but it's worth hunting down for the crab vs. hammer head shark scene alone. Anyway, I was intrigued to read this blog entry which compares the different style of wildlife documentaries in the US and the UK. The US clip focuses much more on entertainment, whilst the UK clip is more informative and educational...check it out here. Talking of nature, it's been reported that the oldest known cloned tree is dying after existing for an amazing 43,000 years...a sign of the times if there ever was one.

If you're still saving up for a 3rd gen console and are after an entertainment fix on your trusty monolithic PS2, check out Gamespots new list. It highlights the 36 Best games on the most successful console of all time. Definitely worth buying Black (#28) if you haven't got it as well as Ico (#13) and Shadow of the Colossus (#3). I'm very surprised that MGS3 has pipped MGS2 to the #8, I personally thought it was rubbish.

PS Some geeks have hacked IMDB to make The Dark Knight the worst film of all time as well as the best. Jokers.

Bits and Bobs

I love the blog Little People. It basically involves miniture model people in London, check it out. I also went to see Wall-E this week, which was a lot better than expected. You can check out a teaser for Pixar's next creation below.

PS. Try out this Steve Jobs Vs Bill Gates game if you're bored.

Running Tracks

Look at this little Esc key running off (or Esc.aping), what a minx! I've been donning the running shoes again this week and thought you might like to download a few tracks which will guarantee you'll be moving like Paula Radcliffe...not in the bowel department of course.

Get Satisfied - Will Smith Vs. Benny Benassi

Galvanise The Empire - Chemical Brothers Vs. Star Wars

Jaguar Skillz 20 Minute Work Out (This mix is amazing. You'll be able to run forever and ever...if it's on repeat.)

Another ten days...

Obviously Batman has been the topic of conversation this week and rightly so...it was as good as the hype. Although there has been criticism of Two Face (who wasn't THAT bad, despite the dodgy CGI) and of the length, I personally thought it was near perfect. Although a swede of the film hasn't been made yet, these guys pieced together a mock trailer based on pre-release footage, its not bad.

There have also been rumours this week that George Lucas is thinking of milking his cash cow re-releasing the Star Wars films in 3D. This would be so good if pulled off correctly, which will be very difficult with the older films; check the story here. You should also check out this chess set, which I NEED.
It's not in production stages yet, so you can't buy it. If you do really want a Star Wars chess set though, you can always snap this one up from Amazon.

PS Thanks to James for showing me Dikipedia, which isn't just a collection of members as I first assumed it to be. It's a pretty funny take on the encyclopedia, archiving a vast collection of irritating dicks.

The 90th Post

I'd forgotten how tiring having a job is, hence the lack of updating. Anyway, my brother and I found some classic YouTube videos last night, here they are;

1. Torn, as performed by mime artist, Johan Lippowitz.

I was listening to Natalie Imbruglia's first album the other day; it really is a classic. This mime artists version of Torn has been on the web for a while, but I hadn't seen this version, in which Imbruglia joins in with the fun and games.

2. Jurassic Park...Sweded

Although I mentioned sweding in the previous post, I had to show you this video. It's amazing. You can also watch a 'Making Of' if you look around on YouTube.

3. Thomas the Tank vs. There Will Be Blood

This is one of the best videos I've ever seen, I think you'll only like it if you've seen the film. It's not even on the second disc of the special edition! Disgraceful.

4. House of Cards by Radiohead

Apparently, no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data. You can watch the making of here.

In other news...

You can watch all of Boxes, a documentary about Stanley Kubrick, on YouTube. It's in five parts, which is lucky considering 4OD seem to have forgotten to put it online. Head here to check out 20 Everyday Items If They Were Designed for Batman. I can't wait to go and see it. There were rumours on the net that Daniel Day Lewis may be in the next one...if there is a next one.

In gaming news, Sony announced that an 80gb PS3 is coming to Europe, which is good news for late adopters such as myself. This comes just after Microsoft announced a 60gb version of their Premium 360. Doh!

PS. I have been told to put more pictures/videos on the blog, rather than links. I'll probably revert back to old ways soon though.

Parties

Hade two hog roasts this weekend in as many days. Amazing. Here's a selection of links for the start of the week.

- Collection here of the Top 10 Photoshop Tutorial websites, if you're lucky enough to own the program.
- Pictures here of a graffiti artist who uses baloons as opposed to spray cans.
- Talking of graffiti artists, rumours here that Banksy's identity is no longer a mystery.
- Article here, suggesting that geeky parents are more likely to have autistic children.
- Article here, explaining how Moore's Law cannot go on forever.

And if you're still bored, why not try making your own DIY popcorn machine...check the video below.

Sweding, 2.5G iPhone and Brass Bands

Finally got a job today which is GOOD NEWS. The 3G iPhone came out today too; if you're still not sure what the differences are, head here. For me, the most confusing difference will be the fact that the 3G iPhone (so-called because it uses 3G technology) is actually the 2G iPhone, because it is the second iPhone to be released. Maybe it should be the 2.5G iPhone. Look's like there were some rather ironic problems with the launch in London...head here. If you want to see a hard-core fan of Windows (or maybe a hater) check out this pic (Thanks to James). Went to see Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind a few months back; if you haven't seen the film, it basically centres around Jack Black and Mos Def's characters trying to recreate famous films as quickly and as cheaply as possible. This is called sweding, a craze which has seen a large number of fans making their own sweded films, many of which you watch here. The picture is one of my favourite scenes from There Will Be Blood. I'm still waiting for the special edition to arrive, although it looks like it could be a bit disappointing. I think it may be similar to a lot of faces today at the Weyhill beer festival, judging by the weather...

PS Thanks to Doovey for showing me this amazing video of some half-time entertainment at a football game in the US. Obviously their rendition of the Zelda theme is the best one...

Hipity-Hop

Quite liked this cheeky Mario take on 300; click on it if you're having trouble reading it. Head here to see the new ways America is trying to stop Obama getting to power...as long as they don't vote this clown in. I'm also considering buying a hamster, just so I can make one of these.

Bought HipHop Connection this month, loving some of the tracks on the free CD. Click on the links below to download. Also check out King Curtis, my current favourite sax man...here's his Last.fm profile. Talking of music legends, I'm tempted to buy (if I had any money whatsoever) one of these prints; The Alcorn Studio have taken an orginal approach to producing portraits of Modern Music Masters...worth a look.

Give It Up - Team Getem Ft. Chino XL

Nothing To Lose - Doc Brown

Mr. Hollywood - P-Casso

And if you're still bored on what is inevitably going to be a rainy day when you read this, why not take a look at this article from Wired.

Portal

Just finished Portal, an original puzzle game that came with the Half Life Orange Box. It was amazing, read about it here. I was even more impressed to find this Lego picture when I whacked Portal into Google Images. I also enjoyed playing about on this artist's website.

Can't wait for There Will Be Blood to come out on DVD. It's definitely one of my favourite films. Apparently, Jonny Greenwood, who composed the score of the film, was ineligible for an Oscar as he had used some of the music in his other works. I did recognise some of the songs from his album Bodysong. However, he also used music from a piece called Popcorn Superhet Receiver. You can listen to the whole piece here, which is part of a Radio 3 recording that includes an interview with Jonny himself. Talking of films, I'm thoroughly looking forward to the Kubrick season on Channel 4; check out the promo video below (Thanks to Leo). They recreated the set in as much detail as possible and used actors who looked like the original cast/crew. The season begins on the 15th of July with a documentary about the director.

PS Head here to watch the first six minutes of the new Batman film.

High Definition

Check out this laughable attempt at selling gulliable Americans HD sunglasses. I quite like this noughts and crosses set though. Not quite as cool as The Big Bang machine though...

PS I was going to include this vid in another post, but thought it suits the image above. Enjoy.

Busy Busy Busy

Major slacking with the blog lately, I'm ashamed! Here's an extra large post to make up for it. Firstly, had an amazing time at Radiohead in Manchester, you can check the setlist here, at Ben's blog. I was afraid they wouldn't be as good as the last time I saw them, but I was wrong to fear; they were sublime. If you have a PS3, it's worth checking out this video outlining what is in the latest firmware upgrade, head here. Also check out this amazing graffiti. I was also impressed by this Star Wars-esque vehicle. It doesn't quite beat this though. I'm in dire need of a job this Summer...if I had one I could use one of these.

I'm also very excited to see the new Batman film, which I believe comes out on the 25th July...it's already rumoured that Heath Ledger will pick up a posthumous Oscar for his role in the film.

Finally, check out this video of an effect rumoured to be in the next PhotoBooth package.
